Privacy Notice
Last updated: 2026-05-15
From The Stem is an editorial publication of Mollohan Production Inc. (doing business as MPIArtist), based in Castle Rock, Colorado. This notice explains what limited personal information we collect when you read the publication or subscribe to From The Stem Brief, what we do with it, and the rights you have over it.
1. What we collect
- Email address (required), name (optional), and the page you subscribed from. You provide these when you fill out a subscribe form on this site.
- Consent record — a timestamp confirming you ticked the consent box when you signed up.
- Basic technical metadata — your user agent string and the time of submission. We use this only to prevent abuse and to debug delivery problems.
We do not use cookies, localStorage, or sessionStorage on this site for tracking, personalization, or advertising. The site is static and stateless by design.
2. How we use it
- To send you From The Stem Brief, our editorial dispatch.
- To keep an internal mailing list of opted-in readers (see "Where it goes" below).
- To answer you if you reply to a dispatch or contact us directly.
We do not sell, rent, or share your email with third parties for their own marketing.
3. Where it goes
When you subscribe, the form posts to a small server-side endpoint hosted on Cloudflare Pages. From there your data is sent to:
- GoHighLevel (LeadConnector) — the customer-relationship platform we use to manage the From The Stem Brief mailing list and tag subscribers as From The Stem Subscriber. GoHighLevel is operated by HighLevel Inc.; see their privacy policy at gohighlevel.com/privacy-policy.
- Google Sheets backup (optional) — when configured, we keep a redundant backup row of your submission (email, name, source, consent flag, timestamp, user agent) in a private Google Sheet via a Google Apps Script web app. This protects us against losing the list if our primary platform has an outage. Google's privacy policy covers their handling of that data.
We use Cloudflare to serve the site and to receive the subscribe request. Cloudflare may process limited request metadata (IP address, request headers) for security and performance; we do not store those server logs ourselves.
4. Analytics
If we run analytics on this site, we use privacy-respecting tools that do not set cross-site identifiers or place advertising cookies. If we add a different analytics provider in the future, we will update this notice and the consent text on the subscribe form.
5. Children
From The Stem is written for an adult, working-musician readership. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a minor has subscribed, email privacy@mpiartist.com and we will remove them.
6. Your rights
- Unsubscribe at any time — every dispatch includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can also email subscribe@mpiartist.com.
- Access, correct, or delete the data we hold about you — email privacy@mpiartist.com and we'll respond within a reasonable time (typically within 30 days).
- Opt out of any optional processing — to be clear, the only required processing is what's needed to send you the dispatch you signed up for; everything else is optional.
7. Security
The subscribe endpoint runs over HTTPS. Our integrations with GoHighLevel and Google authenticate over HTTPS as well. We use environment-scoped secrets in Cloudflare to keep API credentials out of the codebase. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps proportional to a small editorial mailing list.
8. Retention
We keep your subscription record for as long as you are subscribed, plus a reasonable archival window after you unsubscribe (typically up to 24 months) so we can honor your unsubscribe and resolve disputes. You can ask us to delete it sooner.
9. Changes to this notice
If we change this notice in a way that affects how we use your data, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where the change is material, notify subscribers by email.
